Ang Lakas ng Loob (The Inner Strength) is an obvara fired ceramic bird that is inspired by the late 1920’s musical adaptation of the poem Bayan Ko. The patriotic song was sung to confront the colonial occupation and the oppression that was inflicted among the people. Its significance remains to be known as an unofficial anthem of the Philippines as it is seen as a song of resistance. The bird serves as a means to represent the resilience of Filipinos and how regardless of how much the people have gone through throughout history, the people remain strong today. (I highly recommend listening to the song!)
